Supreme Court ruled Monday that white firefighters in New Haven, Conn., were unfairly denied promotions because of their race, reversing a decision that high court nominee Sonia Sotomayor endorsed as an appeals court judge.

New Haven was wrong to scrap a promotion exam because no African-Americans and only two Hispanic firefighters were likely to be made lieutenants or captains based on the results, the court said Monday in a 5-4 decision. The city said that it had acted to avoid a lawsuit from minorities.


Now, tell me how this woman is qualified again?

Here Comes the VAT Tax

America's growing debt problem is coming with a price. A BIG price and the middle class are going to be the ones doing the majority of the heavy lifting. As Fortune Magazine points out, the new debt load our current administration is piling up is too great for just the rich to pay. It will ultimately be pushed down to the electricians, secretaries, truck drivers, nurses (you get the picture) to pay for the spending habits of Obama and his minions.

How is the current administration going to pay for all of this stimulus, ObamaCare, new programs, Afghanistan spending? With the introduction of a Value Added Tax. It will be the death knell to America as we know it. Obama's favorite Chief Ballerina, Rahm Emanuel, is lobbying the current administration to implement this tax ASAP.

The VAT tax is a consumption tax just like your state sales taxes that you pay, but instead the tax will be paid directly to the federal government. If paying your federal income taxes wasn't enough, its a way for the Feds to get into your pocket with EVERY purchase you make.

Mark my words: The government's speedy trajectory of implementing a nationalized health care system while ignoring the flashing red lights and warnings signs, will cut lives short.

Our failure to adequately study the negative effects of other westernized countries' nationalized health care systems, will put us on a path of destruction. Sure we can all agree on some key benefits of a nationalized system such as reduced costs and less uninsured Americans.

However, we can not turn a blind eye to the grave disadvantages of this type of system, which will severely inhibit timely access to treatment (if any treatment is received at all) - often with disastrous results..... death.

In today's, WSJ, Canadian native, David Gratzer, explicitly discusses the significant downsides of nationalized health care (a.k.a ObamaCare). An example of its incompetency:

Sylvia de Vries, an Ontario woman, had a 40-pound fluid-filled tumor removed from her abdomen by an American surgeon in 2006. Her Michigan doctor estimated that she was within weeks of dying, but she was still on a wait list for a Canadian specialist.

If this doesn't make you think twice about ObamaCare, nothing will. Stories, such as the one above, have plagued Westernized countries such as Canada and England for many years.

What is the result? Both countries are now shifting from a nationalized program to a privatized one as a result of substandard, untimely care, resulting in lower life expectancy and increased mortality.

So, why is the U.S. embracing a nationalized health care system that has been shown to fail in practice?

What Jobs Saved, Mr. President?

The White House deception has gone up a notch.

News stories from President Obama's event last week hailing the 100-day mark since the stimulus was passed typically repeated the assertion that the stimulus has already "created or saved 150,00 jobs." ("And that's just the beginning," the President crowed.)

Ironically, the White House has absolutely no earthly clue how many job losses have been prevented because of the stimulus bill. Zero. Zip. Zilch.

Perhaps the press should stop reporting the bogus number. Nah, that would mean they would actually have to do their jobs and stop the campaigning for Obama.

The Propaganda Press!

There once was a time (long, long ago), when the U.S. press corps took their jobs seriously. Due to a responsibility to themselves and to their nation, they sought to ferret out the truth and to be objective with their reporting.

Now the U.S. press not only picks sides, hides/scrubs stories, distorts truths, it also seeks out high profile politicians to "plug" the shows on their networks.

According to the New York Times:

NBC was clearly thrilled to have enough access to President Obama to base a two-part, prime-time special on it all this week (Part II runs Wednesday night.)

Mr. Obama, however, went even one step further for the network – participating in a spoof interview segment for “The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien” during his formal question-and-answer session with the NBC News anchor Brian Williams at the White House.

That's right, not only is there a "Baby on Board" for the government handling GM bankruptcy filed this past Monday, he's actually driving the process.
